Date: 7/16 - 7/17/10 Time: 6:15pm - 8:30am Fish caught: 3 Bass, 2 Pickerel and approx. 40 Crappie Me and the "Old Pro" David made another run to Shearon Harris. We started out fishing a roadbed out in the main body of the lake. Caught 2 LM bass using a carolina rig senko. When the night time came we started fishing the same spot for Crappie. We weren't having much luck so we moved to where we done so well on our last trip. We didn't have much luck there either so we decided to move to the other side of the lake (power plant side). We were able to catch about 35 or so Crappie at that spot. We only kept 13 Crappie on this trip. When daylight came we went back to bass fishing and we headed to the creek end of the lake. I think the creek is called the Little White Oak Creek. We threw topwater for awhile and then I switched to throwing a spinnerbait. I caught 2 chain pickerel on a spinnerbait and then I was able to get my picture taken this time with the big fish of the trip. She weighed 3 lbs 14 oz. She was caught along the lily pads with a spinnerbait. We had millions of baitfish all around us while we were Crappie fishing.
Date: 5/7 - 5/8/10 Time: 6:00pm - 9:00am Fish Caught: 5 Bass, approx. 110-120 Crappie Me and the "Old Pro" David finally managed to get together and fish Shearon Harris. We started out fishing a cove that I have always had luck in and david was able to get the first bass in the boat using a chartruese Bagley Bang-o-lure. I tried several lures with no luck and I switched to old reliable Senko (black w/blue flake). I caught three before the light of day was gone. When darkness fell we started Crappie fishing in a spot I have always had good luck in. We fished for about an hour and only caught a few so we decided to move up the lake and try another area. We stopped at an area that was getting some of the night time breeze blowing into it and managed to catch a few more then we moved to a cove I had caught bass in but had never Crappie fished before. We fished until we ran out of minnows around 4:40am so I tied on a Berkley 2" minnow grub (pearl white) and then we were only able to use one rod apiece for awhile. It seemed like most every cast yielded a Crappie. When daylight came we went back to bass fishing and we started in the same cove and the Old Pro was able to reel in the show fish of the trip using a Swimsenko (black w/blue flake). We fished until 9:00am and decided to call it a successful trip and come on back up the road. We kept 44 Crappie in all.
