11/27/10 2:30pm - 5:15pm Fish Caught: 0 Water Temp: 53 degrees
When I got to the lake I was surprised to see the gate locked and the boat landing was dry. No one had been on the lake today. I went all the way up the lake and started fishing in about 9 foot of water. I threw senkos, a spinnerbait, worms and I also tried a little crappie fishing. I didn't get a single bite. I went on the 22nd and I didn't get a single bite then either. I did see a deer crossing the lake today. This is probably my last trip to Lake Hunt for this year.

10/30/10 8:15am - 2:00pm Fish Caught: 4 Water Temp: 63 degrees
As I was going up the lake I noticed the water seems to be getting more and more stained so I stopped just past the first cove on the right. I worked my way into the first cove throwing a cherryseed worm into the laydowns. When I got to the end of the first set of laydowns I switched to a swimbait and I caught a LM in approx. 2-3 feet of water. I continued working my way into the cove and I caught one more LM before desiding to leave out of the cove and go up the lake. I went into the last cove on the right and it was really muddy. After about 30 minutes I went back down the lake and I fished the first point on the right going up the lake. I stayed along the bank all the way down to the next point where the stumps are and I caught one more LM. All the bass were in the 1 - 1.5 lb range. After fishing the point with the stumps on it I went back into the first cove on the right and started fishing about halfway down the cove on the right. Both graphs were picking up alot of fish about 10 - 12 feet down. It was probably a large school of baitfish or possibly Crappie. Soon afterward I was throwing into a large laydown and then I thought I was hung up in the laydown but then my line started going out toward the middle of the cove. I couldn't see what I had on for about a minute or so. Then it came to the top, it was a very large Carp. When I seen it for the first time the first thing I thought was, did I fowl hook it, but I had not. The swimbait was in its mouth. It took me more than 9 minutes to get it in the boat. I couldn't believe how big it was. It weighed 28 lbs 15 oz. The biggest fish I have ever caught in my life.

10/23/10 8:00am - 1:00pm Fish Caught: 1 LM Bass Water Temp: 61 degrees
Started fishing near the point on the left going up the lake with the stumps on it. Moved up the lake to the last cove on the right and started throwing a swimbait. There was already a boat up in this cove fishing over the hydrilla. I started on the left hitting the banks and just as I made it past where I caught a LM the other day I managed to catch another one on a swimbait in the 1 - 1.5 lb range. I continued until I got to the last set of laydowns. By then the other boat had left the area so I went up into the creek channel. The temperature in the creek was 51 degrees. As I was coming out of the creek I spotted a LM bass in the 4 - 5 lb range. She had already spotted me and was leaving the area. I threw my swimbait at her but she just wanted to leave. I left this cove and went to the first point on the left coming up the lake. While I was fishing this point I decided to try a little crappie fishing. I moved into the first cove on the right and started throwing a small jig along the laydowns. I went all the way up into the cove without a hit so I decided to leave.

10/21/10 3:30pm - 6:15pm Fish Caught: 1 LM Bass Water Temp: 64 degrees
It was really windy when I got to the lake and there were only two other boats on the water and one of them were a couple of guys Crappie fishing. I started just above the narrow channel in the main lake channel. My time was limited so I thought the best lure would be a swimbait just above the hydrilla. I didn't have any luck at this location so I moved to the last cove on the right and started throwing a Lucky Craft LVR-7 out in about the 8 foot range. I let it sink to the bottom and then started reeling it in. I've caught several good size fish in this area doing this but I didn't have any luck this time. I picked up my swimbait again and started throwing it within 15-20 feet from the bank and that's when I was finally able to catch this 6 lb 2 oz LM in about 3-4 feet of water. She didn't put up too much of a fight either. I think she knew I was just going to put her back.

10/8/10 7:15am - 1:30pm Fish Caught: 2 LM bass
Started fishing the upper end of the lake and for about 3 hours I didn't get a bite. I moved to the first cove on the right going up the lake and using a Lucky Craft LVR-7 ''rat-L-trap'' type lure I caught my first bass of the day in about 5-6 feet of water. I stayed in this cove for about an hour and then I moved out into the main body of the lake and started working my way back up the lake. I started using a swimbait I purchased from Wal-mart last year and I was able to catch one more bass in the small cove just after the narrow passage in the main lake channel. I caught it in 3-4 feet of water just over some hydrilla.

9/25/10 4:00pm - 8:00pm Fish Caught: 1 Water Temperature: 81 degrees
When I got to the lake there was only one other boat on the water. One other boat arrived shortly after I did. I started fishing the upper end of the lake along the hydrilla. There were several fish hitting shad all around me but no hits. I was throwing a white 3.5" swimbait. This lure works good when fishing along hyrdrilla as well as fishing in it. Within 30 minutes the other two boats were fishing in the same cove as me. I moved to the other side of the lake where there is a small creek coming into the lake. This cove is very small compared to the cove I am use to fishing in. There is lots of hydrilla in this area as well. After nearly three hours I finally managed to get one on the line. About a 2 lber and I was glad to finally catch a fish. This is the first fish I've captured on video.

8/14/10 5:15am - 11:15am Fish Caught - 0
With the time changing little by little each day, I got on the water well before daylight. Started throwing a black buzzbait and I didn't get any bites. When daylight came I could see the hydrilla just under the surface so I started throwing my Goliath lure along the edge of the hydrilla and with 4 or 5 casts I had about a 4 lber on very briefly. Within a few turns of the reel handle she came off. Later on I spotted two bass near the surface and they wouldn't hit anything. I stayed on the upper end of the lake all morning and when I got ready to leave I decided to record the trip back to the boat landing. The recording revealed lots of baitfish and fish at the lower end of the lake. I guess I would have probably been better off checking first since I got there so early. 7/31/10 5:10am - 11:15am Fish Caught - 2 Water Temperature: 85 degrees
Started fishing before daylight and caught one and missed one on a Strike King Double Take black buzzbait. When daylight came I started using a Goliath lure and caught one within a few casts. The creek channel was still a little muddy so I stayed out in the cove and I threw a variety of different lures. I had several hits on a spinnerbait but no hook sets. The rain came in some time around 9 am but it was mostly sprinkles.

7/27/10 4:15pm - 7:45pm Fish Caught - 1 Water Temperature: 87.2 degrees
I decided to try Hunt out after the rain storms went by. Water was really flat and the upper end of the lake was muddy. Got a hit on my Goliath lure but didn't get a hook set. Tried spinnerbaits on the bottom and got one bite just as I was going to take the lure out of the water Went down to the first point on the left and caught one on a lipless crankbait. Saw some turkeys along the bank so I thought I'd get a few pictures of them. Take a look at the Lake Hunt Pictures page.

7/24/10 3:30am - 10:00am Fish Caught - 1 Water Temperature: 88.5 degrees
Today I decided to try a little more night time fishing. I threw a black buzzbait along the dam and I didn't get any bites. I went up the lake and tried a black spinnerbait and still didn't get any bites. When daylight came I started throwing my Goliath lure and within 15 minutes I caught one. It actually hit at it several times before I finally got a hook set in it. After about an hour I started throwing a white spinnerbait and I had one hit on it. Some time around 9am I went back up the lake and started throwing a carolina rig senko and I had a small one on but it got off. There was only four boats on the lake this morning.

7/16/10 5:30am - 9:20am Fish Caught - 1 Water Temperature: 84.8 degrees
Today my better half went with me. This is the first time she has ever went with me fishing. She done her needle work while I fished. I think she enjoyed it enough that she wants to go again. I started fishing the upper end of the lake. Soon after it got light enough to see. another boat came into the cove so I worked my way up to the creek channel and I threw my reliable 'Goliath' lure up into it as far as I could. My line actually went over some linbs and my lure landed in the water but as soon as it landed I had one on. When she knew she was hooked she started jumping. She started out of the creek as fast as she could go and went right under the boat and headed for deeper water. When she finally wore down I got her closer to the boat and my wife grabbed the net and she was able to get her in the boat. She weighed 5 lb 4 oz.. I worked my way out into the main body of the cove and had one on a spinnerbait but it got off as my wife was getting ready to net it.

7/10/10 5:30am - 10:00am Fish Caught - 4
Started fishing the upper end of the lake. After about 45 minutes I seen a bass break the surface up in the creek channel. I threw a buzzbait up the creek channel and she hit it but didn't get ahold of it. After about three or four more cast I had one on about a 3-4 lber. When it got close to the boat it came off like it never had any of the hooks in it. I picked up my Goliath lure and threw it up in the creek channel and just let it sit there for awhile. When I twitched it one time she grabbed it, she weighed 6 lbs 10 oz.. As I was moving away from the creek channel I seen another bass roll the surface and I threw my Goliath and it landed right where she had come to the surface. I just let it set there and she hit it like she hadn't eaten in a week. She weighed in at 6 lbs 15 oz.. I didn't think I was going to get her in the net. I worked my way along the edge of the bank and caught a small one with the Goliath lure. I decided to cross the cove and try the other side and the wind picked up some so I started throwing a spinnerbait. When I got about halfway across the cove I caught one on the spinnerbait. The trailer hook had ahold and wouldn't let go. She weighed in at 5 lbs 15 oz.. I found out today, the lure that i have been calling a PopR is actually a lure made by Custom Lures Unlimited. I ordered two more of the Goliath lures.

7/9/10 5:00am - 11:45am Fish Caught - 1 Water Temperature: 83 degrees
Started fishing the upper end of the lake. It was cloudy and it looked like it might rain. I threw a buzzbait for awhile. I couldn't see it but I could hear it. I didn't get any bites on the buzzbait. When it got light enough to see I switched to my PopR and started hitting the banks. I caught one within ten minutes. I fished the entire cove and didn't get any more bites. I moved down the lake to the first cove on the right and worked the laydowns along the left side of the cove with a swimsenko. As I worked the long line of laydowns I got one on and it went straight under a laydown and I couldn't get it to come back up. As she was pulling I moved right over the top of the laydown. The laydown was about a foot or so under the surface. There was another bass with her and they were both in the 6 lb range and one of them was on my hook. I kept pulling and she kept getting farther and farther under the laydown. I could see her coming up closer to the boat and I had to lower my rod down in the water to try to untangle my line as it was wrapped around several limbs. Just as I got her within three feet from the end of my rod she took off again and with my rod under the water she pulled it against the laydown and she was pulling so hard she broke my rod into three pieces. This it the first time I've ever had a rod to break. I could still feel her pulling but I wasn't able to get her to come back up. I guess the line was wrapped around too many limbs. After awhile I guess she got off because I quit feeling her pull. I had the rod straight down to where the line turned and went under the laydown so I grabbed the bail of the reel and decided to just pull as hard as I could to try to break the line. I couldn't get the braided line to break. I pulled and pulled on the line for what seemed like 10 minutes until the line finally broke. With my senko rod broken now, I started throwing a spinnerbait. I worked my way on into the cove and only got one hit on the spinnerbait.

7/3/10 5:30am - 10:30am Fish Caught - 1 Water Temperature: 84 degrees
Started fishing the upper end of the lake along with one other boat. While the two of us were talking I caught one on a spinnerbait. Before I left that cove there were 4 boats in it. I moved to the first large cove on the right and there was 4 boats in if before I left it. Quite a number of boats on the water today. Lake Hunt can't accomodate too many boats at one time unless everyone is going to sit in one spot and fish. 15 boats is probably the maximum number of boats for Lake Hunt.

7/2/10 5:15am - 1:30am Fish Caught - 5 Water Temperature: 83 degrees
Started fishing at the dam and didn't get any hits. Went all the way to the creek end of the lake and caught a small one on a PopR. Stayed in this area almost all morning and only caught one. I moved to the first point on the left coming up the lake and started using a carolina rig watermelon seed worm. Within ten casts I caught one that weighed 4 lbs 5 oz. next to two laydown pine trees. Went around the other side of the point and caught one that weighed 3 lb 10 oz.. I moved to the first large cove on the right and caught one that weighed 3 lbs 2 oz. using a white spinnerbait. Caught one more small one using a white spinnerbait in this cove.

6/27/10 5:15am - 10:45am Fish Caught - 1
Went all the way to the creek end of the lake and started fishing. Caught one 4 lb bass using a white buzzbait. I had to cut the trailer hook in to to get it out of the front of her lip. Only had one other hit on the buzzbait so I switched to using other various lures and didn't get any more bites. The only catch of the day was actually caught while it was still dark. I had to lighten the picture with photo shop the best I could plus it was taken with my cell phone, I forgot the camera. I talked to two other guys on the lake and they said they had not caught any.

6/25/10 4:45am - 10:45am Fish Caught - 2
Started fishing the dam with only one bite. Went up the lake and fished the last cove on the right with a white buzzbait. Had one on within the first ten minutes but it got off. Went all the way back into the cove and hooked into a 4.5 - 5 lber and when I bent over to lip her she came off. I should of had my net ready. Started using my oversized PopR and was able to get one in the boat. It was already after 7 am and the sun was up and fish were starting to go deeper and with less bites. Didn't get anymore bites so I moved to the first cove on the right coming up the lake and started using a spinnerbait. Caught one along a laydown. Fished the entire cove and only had that one bite.

6/19/10 5:15am - 11:00am Fish Caught - 4
Started fishing the dam and I caught 3 bass within 30 minutes using a white buzzbait. Went into the first cove on the right and had several bites but wasn't able to set the hook in any. Went up the lake and fished the area where I hooked the 7-8 lber on 6/5/10 but didn't get any bites. I worked my way into the last cove on the right and was able to catch one more bass using a swimbait. Went back down the lake and fished along the first point on the left and I had several bites but again no luck.

6/8/10 3:30pm - 7:00pm Fish Caught - 2
Started fishing the dam and caught one 3/4's of the way down the dam using a Sexy Shad spinnerbait. Went up the lake and started fishing the area where I hooked the 7-8 lber this past Saturday but didn't get any bites. Found another sunken boat out in the lakes main channel. Moved to the first large cove on the right coming from the boat landing and still no takers. Located a fence line out in the middle of the cove along the creek channel. Went back down to the dam and threw a Cotton Cordell Super Spot. Caught a dink near the spillway.

6/5/10 6:00am - 10:15am Fish Caught - 2
The lake level has come up but it is still about 1 to 1.5 feet below full. Started fishing at the dam and on the fourth cast I landed a 3.2 lb bass using a Lucky Craft LVR D-7 lipless crankbait. I caught one other bass on a Gary Yamamoto Swimsenko (black w/blue flakes). I went up the lake and started fishing on the right hand side of the lake using a Sexy Shad spinnerbait and hooked into a 7-8 lb bass but it threw my lure the first time it came out of the water.
